I want to become a dental hygenist in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT). Suggestions on the route I should take?

For example, does anyone have any schools that they would suggest? Is there a need to actually go to a dental hygensit school or could I simply go to a dental assistant class(es) and then sit for the dental hygenist exams? Thanks for your help!

you will have to take your boards so it is a given that you must first go to hygiene school. dental assistants are not legally allowed to do anything subgingival which of corse the hygienist has to do.
Reply:Yes, you will need to go to school. It is a tough program. There is a state and national board exam to take once you have completed the course from a credited school. I would contact your local community collages and see what they offer, sometimes there is a shared program with school for the pre classes and then the clinic classes.

Good luck and remember to floss
