And most off all is it a hard job?
Does a dental hygenist make good money?
Yes DH make excellent money! It is very difficult to get into a DH program because not many colleges teach it. Took me 3 years on a waiting list to get into a DH program!
The job itself is not too hard. But the education to become a DH is VERY hard! So apply to every colleges you can that offers it and expect not to get in right away. Also expect to study like crazy, read nonstop textbooks, and have no life outside of the DH program for 2-4 years.
Reply:Depends... where you gonna work?
Reply:Yes, about $24 per hour. Tedious, maybe, but not hard.
Reply:Yes!
The larger the city, the bigger the pay!
If you like smelling bad breath all day and looking at dirty teeth and slobber while standing or bending over all day, I guess it isn't all bad.

Input some information, city, job, etc, and will give you a breakdown of pay in that area.
Reply:yes you would make a lot of money! I personally would not be interested in it because i know 2 hygenists that like their job, but they have some people that complain a lot. Teeth can get very sensitive, and some people don't have a very high pain tollerance. In the end it's your call if you really want to see dirty teeth everyday.
Reply:My friends daughter went to the university and go a BS degree in dental hygiene/health. We live in a rural area and for a while she had to work for three different dentist until she got a full time position. She started off at $18.00 per hour which is very good in a rural area. Dental hygeine is kinda of like nursing it can be disgusting work but either you want to do that type of work or not. Most health care jobs for people with education pay good.
