I am Currently a student wondering about how long it takes to do something in the Dental Field??

Well like i said I am a student, and i was wondering how many years does it take to become a dentist, and if i do decide on the dental route could i first become a dental hygenist and then become a dentist would it be easier??? and also how many years would it take going that route..........I know you have to go to dental school but would you have to go for all 4 years......Please no rude answers...it is a s8 forward question and i just need some information about this

Yes it would be easier to become a hygienist and then move to dentist position but you would still have to go the same amount of time but this way you can get your foot in the door ,get some experience and a lot of times your employer will help pay to further your education.
Reply:actually it would not be easier to become a hygienist first. dental hygiene does not have all of the same undergraduate requirements that dental school does. if you became a hygienist first, you would have to go back to college for at least another year to take physics, calculus, and organic chemistry. then you could get accepted to dental school and it would still be a 4 year degree.





it would be a much better use of time to go straight to dental school for these reasons.
