I have had to wait over 6 wks now. My dentist who is the only one in the surgery I may add qualified for sedation was on hols then I had to go on hols. I had to see a dental hygenist so I have 1 more appt with her and I won't get the actual work done 3 fillings and an extraction until the end of Aug. When it becomes too painful I'm taking 500mg co codamol and once they wear off I am feeeling shaky and sweaty uuuurgh!
How long have you had to wait to get dental work done?
If you're in pain go to another surgery.
Reply:Tell your dentist and follow there advice.
Reply:You should try calling and speaking with the Dentist. Normally when there is an emergency the Dentist would make exceptions. Emergency means your having pain! Try calling and speaking with him/her. Be persistant!
Reply:Sometimes the hygenist work is very important to prep the teeth and ensure satisfactory treatment. If you are having an extraction the dentist needs everything to be sound before he will do it and for fillings a good base to work with, ie your teeth in as good shape as they can be. Give them a call and explain about the pain, sometimes it can be plaque build up and the removal, that causes sensitivity. Persevere with the regime the hygenist has advised and ask if there is anything else for the pain. If you are really disatisfied you could try looking for another dentist but in the UK if it's NHS, that can be easier said than done. Try some toothpaste for sensitive teeth in the meantime, it may help.
