Is it legal for dental hygenists to pack fillings in the state of Indiana?

I got a filling done at the end of December that was packed by a dental hygenist (drilled by the dentist) and have had it adjusted several times since. It still feels off....almost like it's hollow because it only bothers me when I put pressure on it (like eating chips or other hard things). I know that this is abnormal and I'm going to visit a new dentist but I don't want another one who lets their hygenist pack fillings. Will it be hard to find this in Indianapolis?

Call the Indiana State Dental Association.. they will be able to tell you.

If she isn't allowed, she could have a malpractice suit on her hands, as well as the dentist.

:)
Reply:was it a deep cavity? sounds like the filling is close to the nerve. also, if it is a deep filling it will take time for the tooth to fully heal..could be several weeks.

i'm not sure why the dentist would not complete the job.. i've never heard anyone other than the dentist doing that...

i would have asked them when it happend. don't be afraid to speak up
