Is there a difference between a dental hygenist and dental hygene? Are they two different jobs?
yes

dental hygenist cleans your teeth, does the flouride etc.

and dental hygene is not a job. Thats what you need to do at home, and the dental hygenist does like a super version.
Reply:The dental hygentist performs the dental hygene.
Reply:A dental hygienist is someone who checks someone's dental hygiene.
Reply:This is the definition of a Dental Hygienist from the website of the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario:

A dental hygienist is a registered oral health professional who performs a variety of roles including clinical therapy, health promotion, education, administration and research in a variety of practice environments. In all roles and practice environments, the dental hygienist works with the client/patient and other health professionals and using a problem-solving framework, bases all decisions, judgments, and interventions on current dental hygiene research and theory. As a registrant of a self-regulating profession, a dental hygienist must practice safely, ethically and effectively for the promotion of the oral health and well-being of the public of Ontario.

I hope this gives you some idea of the scope of things we do.
