What kind of advice would you give a new coming dental hygenist?

Try to get to know a little about your patients so you can talk to them while working on them. Just about everyone I know is terrified of the dentist office and putting them at ease by talking to them is a big help. Don't ask any questions that require an answer as it is pretty hard to talk while someone is working inside your mouth!! The others gave you good advice as well, so with all these answers, if you follow them, you will be a top-notch hygienist! Good luck.

I guess dedication to your job, alway achieve for the best, for every dental treatment thta you do, for every patient that you deal with, show your compassion, your concern and patience is the most practiced here........since this job entails working fewer hours than normal in one patient..one has to really be patient and perseveres to finish to its best quality of work...good luck~~
Reply:listen to the dentist...dont try to impress him, if ure new, he wont get impressed yet, just do as much as he says, thats it, dont over do anything, we have a few hygenists at our practice, and theyre annoying when they overdo it and think they are the DENTIST

Don't take that seriously - I'm just kidding!

Realize that you are an important aspect to the dental practice and stay on purpose. Help the office and the patients in any manner that you can. Follow the office policy and do a great job. Communicate to the doctor and patient and be confident on what you are doing.

Dentistry is very stressful at times so try to keep it light and fun with the patients. There will be times when you won't be able to do that. Treat others, doctor and staff and patients as you would want to be treated. The key is that there is as much to learn and perfect on the human relationships as there is on the technical aspects of what you have been exposed to.

So good luck and best wishes!
