Ok, Plz help. I wanna know more about cleaning at the dentist office.?

Ok, I went for my cleaning, and they cleaned %26amp; stuff %26amp; then they told me to come back later(another appointment) to finish it. Cus that same day I had to finish gettin my crown for my root canal. So I went for my other appointment %26amp; well the dental hygenist didnt finish my cleaning, i think the helper did, %26amp; all she did was polish it. I still have plaque %26amp; tartar buildt up. Is it ok? Doesnt patients have rights? They said they were busy so they kept makin more apointments, %26amp; rushing things. Does any one know more about Rights for patients at the dentist? lol, %26amp; are they allowed to make 2 appointments 4 cleaning? i had to make the 2ns aapointment just to polish my teeth, cudn ttheyhave dne that the first time? plus the 2ns time they didnt even check my teeth, they just plishe dit.


--so plz gime more info on cleaning at the dentist. How long it takes, %26amp; if they can do that( make another apponitmetn...) %26amp; we're not satisfied what do we do?

Yes patients have rights. What they should have done was explained to you at the first appointment how many appointments they thought you would need to complete your treatment. It often does take more than one appointment to do a thourough cleaning depending on just how much build up you have. (you may think you only have a little bit but that may not be the case). If I were you I would be asking what qualification the person has that is doing the treatment for you.

Reply:not all Pt's can have their cleanings done in 1 visit, ask them to explain in detail the condition of you gums, is there pocketing, bleeding in any ares, then ask them to give you a treatment plan of how many visit they think you need, if they can;t supply this to you then consider a dentist who will explain you r dental health and care about your needs.
Reply:One type of cleaning is called a full mouth debridement and it is sometimes done in 2 visits. One to scale and one to polish. No one on here can give you a completely accurate answer, because we don't have your dental chart and x-rays in front of us, so I am not going to say the dental office did anything wrong.
Reply:sometimes patients need deeper cleanings...sometimes hygienists will only do a quadrant at a time...depending on how much has to be done...
