Dental assistants?

Is it a good job?





Do you like doing it?





Is it really a good transition into hygenist?





Non-dental assistants ... if someone tells you they are a dental assistant do you consider it to be a respectful job or do you look down on them?

Dental assistants?
I am a dental hygiene student - being an assistant first can help you with the terminology, but that is about it, they do different things (a dental hygienist can do anything an assistant can do, but not vice versa). Of course, a dental hygienist makes very good money!! But I believe an assistant makes around 12-15 an hour, which also is not bad.





I think being an assistant is respectable--certainly more so than working at Burger king (no offense to anyone working there).

Reply:i want to be one when i get older. my step sister in law is in school to become one, so i would say that it is pretty good.....
Reply:A dental assistant doesn't earn as much as a hygienist, but it's still a respectable job, because they are in as much contact with the patient as the dentist. If you are already an assistant, and want to earn more, then you should consider going on the hygienists course.
