Pregnant and I have a question?? Please help..?

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and I had dental work done today and they put local anesthesia on me.. The hygenist said it was okay but I haven't been able to speak to my doctor so she can reassure me that it's fine.. Does someone know if it's okay or not??

It depends on what trimester... and after 21 weeks, I heard it's fine. My advice to you is, you should ALWAYS consult your OB first if you are not sure about something being safe before you go ahead with it. I am sure you are okay though. Call your OB and just ask him. Best Wishes and congrats! KJ
Reply:Confirm it with your doctor, but it is fine - stop worrying
Reply:WHY DIDNT YOU CALL YOUR DOCTOR FIRST?
Reply:My doctor had to call my dentist office before they would perform anything on me because I was 6 1/2 months pregnant and had to local anesthesia . I would call my doctor or a nurse at the local hospital just for reassurance

But I'm sure everything is just fine, they wouldn't have performed any work if they thought it would put the baby at risk.
Reply:Depends on what they used, but local anesthesia should be safe. Its called "local" because it only effects the area its applied to. I'd be more worried if they completely sedated you.

My wife was sedated at a dentist before she knew she was pregnant. Fortunately, everything turned out okay. :)

I'm sure you and your baby will be fine.
Reply:its fine stop worrying, it is done all the time................ but if you were so unsure b4 u did it, why didnt you speak with the doctor b4hand???
Reply:Generally speaking, dental work with local anethetic is fine during pregnancy, but it's recommended that it's done during the second trimester. And what do you know...you're still in it!
